Created and run by producer Marcelo Braga, Santa Rita Filmes is an independent Brazilian production company that completed a decade of work in 2023 and has already made more than 11 feature films, as well as producing internationally award-winning documentaries and documentary series.
Among the production company's great successes in the true crime genre are the films: The Girl Who Killed Her Parents, The Boy Who Killed My Parents and The Girl Who Killed Her Parents - The Confession, all 3 Amazon exclusives that have gained a huge audience on Prime Video. Recently, it released O Maníaco do Parque, an original production for Amazon Prime Video, a worldwide success and 1st place in Brazil for weeks and the documentary series Maníaco do Parque - A História Não Contada, also available on Prime Video, which was in 1st place in the top Brazilian series on the platform for two consecutive weeks and brings new revelations about the case. The production company is also finalizing Assalto à Brasileira, a co-production with +Galeria and Telefilms, which promises a dynamic and engaging approach that portrays an audacious heist with surprising twists, combining action, drama and suspense to create a thought-provoking cinematic experience.
In the children's segment, the production company released Hora de Brilhar (Time to Shine), starring Sophia Valverde and available on Disney+, as well as A Garota Invisível (The Invisible Girl ) and Lascados (Lascados), which feature outstanding casts and were a hit with audiences. Santa Rita Filmes has also established itself in the comedy genre, producing titles such as Barraco de Família (Paramount+), starring Cacau Protásio, Lellê and Sandra de Sá; Gostosas, Lindas e Sexies, with Mariana Xavier, Carolinie Figueiredo and Lyv Ziese; and No Ritmo da Fé, a hit on Netflix that remained in the global top 10 for non-English language films for two consecutive weeks.
In addition to fiction, the production company has a significant presence in the field of documentaries and documentary series, accumulating international awards, including El Ojo Iberoamérica and France's Cristal Festival. Among its most acclaimed productions are Encuentros en Brasil, Tu Casa es mi Casa, Guerreiros da Floresta, Comer Bem, Que Mal Tem? and Deu Bola (SescTV), winner of the Televisión América Latina (TAL) 2024 Award. Other relevant titles include the documentary Janis - Amores de Carnaval, Memórias de Ricky Ferreira e Convidados (feature-doc selected for Première Brasil: Retratos Longa-Metragem at the 26th Rio Film Festival) and the series Brasil, Zil (TV Cultura), which explores cultural and social themes in a unique way.
